This nightstand is an experiment to see what I could do with laminated plywood and how it would react to being milled at acute angles.
This is the last piece I worked on during my time at Carnegie Mellon. I designed, milled and built it in a marathon 24 hour period, but due to a lack of material, I still have yet to finish it. The design is in part influenced by the naturalistic forms of Googie style combined with the the stark, minimalist lines of mid-century modern. The body of the table (already milled) was an experiment to see what I could do with laminated plywood and how it would react to being milled at acute angles.
