Hi, I'm Dan,

Let’s build something together.

I’m a Design Engineer (a professional tinkerer) with a background in architecture and degrees from Carnegie Mellon (B.Arch) , and Brown/RISD (Master of Art in Design Engineering).  I’m at my best solving complex, human-centered problems through physical, digital, and mechatronic solutions, and have worn many hats in the process.  From Tinyhome designer to startup COO, from 3D printing expert to Satellite designer, from Honolulu to Dubai to Manhattan, I’ve honed my unique skill set and have developed expertise in problem-solving, systems thinking, designing, iterating, visualizing, and prototyping.  I possess a deep passion for making, and use my 15+ years of 3D modeling to aid in my work; if it functions, I need to know how, and why.

As a NASA RI Space Grant Fellow, I conducted research and built prototypes focusing on augmented reality, computer vision, mechatronics, 3D construction printing, and compliant material stabilization.

As a current Human Factors Design Engineer at Paragonix, I refine organ transplant transport products and support new product development through user-centric design research, prototyping, and R&D.

In my free time, I design open-source, modular furniture and equipment that’s easy to reproduce with minimal tooling and materials.  I also work with friends in our creative studio, officiate secular weddings, and perform the occasional voice-over for the Hubble Telescope.

I’m always looking for a new challenge, and I want to help.  Please get in touch!
